When To Get Help

Below are some common symptoms for children, teens or adults that may indicate there is a need for counseling services or parent consultation:

  • Excessive worrying or fear

  • Feeling excessively sad or low

​

  • Difficulty with concentration or sustaining attention

​

  • Prolonged or strong feelings of irritability or anger/frequent tantrums (kids)

​

  • Avoiding friends and social activities

​

  • Changes in sleeping habits or feeling tired and low energy

​

  • Multiple physical ailments without obvious causes (such as headaches, stomachaches, vague and ongoing “aches and pains”)

​

  • Inability to carry out daily activities or handle daily problems and stress

​

  • Impulsive and/or hyperactive 

​

  • Thinking about suicide or self-harm 

​

  • Thinking about harm to others

​

  • Symptoms of a previously diagnosed mental health condition resurfaces
